Pumpkin Patch

The party invitation said "costume optional" but Naomi was the only one dressed up!  I guess at over 90 degrees, dress up clothes would not have been very comfortable.  Naomi's little ballerina dress was summery enough...she got lots of comments like "what a cute ballerina" from passersby.
There are cut outs to pose with all over the pumpkin patch

Saturday was actually my birthday (October 4th...I'm holding at age 27, by the way) but I spent it at a birthday party for a little boy from Naomi's Mother's Day Out class.
The morning was a bit rough for us...Andreas had a stomach bug and had to miss his soccer game plus team pictures.  That was a real downer.  I worked out at the gym though, after Fabian and girls brought me breakfast in bed.  It was not his usual Saturday morning tradition of pancakes and brewed coffee, but toast.  Yup, I got woken up early for toast.  It was the thought that counted.  Isabel and Naomi were soooo excited that it was my birthday, and so eager to "treat" me to an EARLY breakfast of toast in bed.  They are sweet, Isabel wrote me several and letters for my birthday and she made sure everyone knew who's birthday it was that day.

Isabel went to her Little Stars class, then she and Naomi and I drove about 30 minutes away from the city to a pumpkin patch for the birthday party.  It was hot out there but we had so much fun!  The kids went through a hay bale maze, jumped in bounce houses, and we all went on a hayride.  The only downer was the bees that swarmed around the sugary and cake and ice cream.  The birthday boy got stung in the face, but he was OK (just very scared and upset!)

That evening the girls and I met up with the boys for dinner at Outback Steakhouse.  Andreas had made a full recovery by then and was starving,  and Isabel was very happy because she could get ribs to eat (her favorite!).  Inspite of the fact that my hubby said "pass" on desert when the waiter came around (wait, wasn't this supposed to be a birthday celebration?!) we had a yummy meal.

I am making a special request for a birthday cake next year...

OK so I'm way behind on my blog reading (and posting) but happy late b-day to you too! I'm so glad Joy brought you a cake :) I would have made you one but it would not have been that pretty!

You're sweet, She...when is your b'day? Sadly, I do better at keeping up with all the kids' birthdays than I do my friends'!
