Family Days

Fabian took off from work Mon and Tues so we could all spend time together before the kids return to school.  We had planned to swim and go to Six Flags, but Fabian caught a bad cold Friday and we had unusually cold, rainy weather as well.  We swam for a little while in an indoor pool on Monday, but it was so chilly even inside that we didn't last all that long.
Tuesday we decided the weather was too uncertain, and Fabian was still not quite himself, so we did a few different things.  We walked around the mall a bit and let Naomi and Isabel play in an indoor playground while the boys went to the Apple store (we are Mac users), then we went to a movie and saw "Space Chimps".
This was Naomi's first movie in a theater, so it was a big mile stone for her!  She did very well as long as we kept the popcorn coming.  It was right at nap time, so she was a little antsy at times, but over all I think she had fun.  My little baby is soooo grown up!!!  On the other hand, it sure is convenient that all 5 of us can do this together now, instead of having to always divide and conquer or get a sitter for Nay Nay.
To make it even more memorable, 15 minutes into the movie it shut down and the emergency system was activated telling us to evacuate the building.  We did as told and walked around to the front where we re-entered because apparently it was a false alarm...
After the movie we went to a paint your own pottery place (an unplanned tie in to the movie, won't make sense unless you've seen it).  I had wanted to take the older two all summer but didn't dare take Naomi as well, by myself.  We braved it this time since Fabian was there to help -- she required an adult all to herself.  Everyone had fun and all 5 of us had a chance to paint.  Naomi enjoyed it until she got bored.  Andreas and Isabel both enjoyed it alot -- in fact, I think we will have Isabel's birthday party there in October.
Finally we had a yummy dinner at Macaroni grill.  I was disappointed that we didn't go to Six Flags but we ended up having a great day and I don't think the kids minded the change of plans at all.  It was good to be all together.
That being said, I think everyone is ready for school to start on Monday...
