We had lots of fun at the Texas Scottish Festival today. It was very hot, though! We all loved hearing the pipes and drums and seeing people in their clan kilts. Andreas' favorite part of the day was participating in a children's sword fighting lesson. Isabel wanted a kilt, but settled for a doll dressed in a kilt. (She is now interested in doll collecting, as opposed to playing with dolls, by the way.) Naomi just ran around and was tired because she didn't get her nap.
The gentlemen in the top picture is in dress from a Bavarian guard. He told us they helped out the Scottish at some point in history (great details, huh?). That particular uniform was retired at the turn of the twentieth century. The kids got a kick out of him, he was very friendly and happy to pose for a picture.
