Festivities

My table at the "Winter Wonderland" holiday brunch...the star on top of my tree got cut out of the picture

Run down on the first weekend of Dec.:  Ice Skating with I. and her Brownie troop Fri night.  Got caught in traffic for 1 hour going there, didn't get to eat dinner until 9:30 pm.  I. took many spills as she is very determined to master skating and goes at it with  great gusto. She was much improved by the end of the night.  We had a great time, but were EXHAUSTED...A. had a Weblos meeting at the same time, which I forgot about, and he got a ride with a friend's family.  He ended up spending the night with that friend and by the time I got home to round up some clothes for him and take them to him, it was 10 pm.

Sat.  I was up and at 'em for the annual women's holiday brunch at church.  I was a table hostess, which meant I decorated a table and hosted the women at it along with my co-hostess, Elizabeth.  She brought an awesome Italian creme cake for our desert.  Meanwhile, F. and the kids went to a holiday celebration where Mr. Al (from Little Stars) was MC-ing.  That afternoon I took I. to a birthday party.

Sunday -- church, then in the afternoon I. had dress rehearsal for the kids' program that night.  I had some running around to do, then a quick dinner followed by all 5 of us returning to see the program!  They did something new at the end this year...parents who helped our kids learn the songs were asked to join them on the stage and sing along.  The kids were all beaming as one or more parent stood next to them on the risers and sang (in our case, I was the "singer").  A. doesn't like to sing in choir, so he was a sport and was in the audience applaud for his sister and friends.

Once again, I started out the week very tired (I know that's how it is for most parents these days, huh?) but it was a truly festive and fun weekend.

This coming weekend F. and I are hosting a dinner at our home for his co-workers, A. has his Weblos Christmas party, I. is caroling at a nursing home with the Brownies, and I have a tiny part in the church Christmas program on Sun. am.  Even so, I have to learn my lines and go to rehearsals.  Oh, Sunday afternoon I am taking I. and two friends to see "The Nutcracker Suite".  That always reminds me of my dad, I can't wait.
After this weekend, things should be pleasantly busy instead of frantic :-)...
