4th of July

Here is I. in front of our house, before we went to see fireworks Thursday evening. I don't know if you can see it in the first picture, but I. came up with her own patriotic hairstyle.
She and I went alone to see fireworks because A.was so tired from camp that he didn't want to go, and N. needed some sleep as well. The fireworks we saw included some fly overs of vintage military planes which circled over our house before going back in to the show. So, that was pretty cool -- we didn't even have brave the crowds to see that part! We watched the fireworks from a parking lot outside of the main festivity area.

On Friday we went to the very crowded city pool late in the afternoon with some friends, then we came home and grilled. Here are the kids with a fruit pizza which they all helped me prepare for dessert! We watched the NY fireworks on TV and the kids had fun dancing to the music.

America is going through some difficult times, but we remain grateful for the tremendous freedoms we have and the price men and women have paid for us to have it.
